METACOGNITIVE STRATEGY INSTRUCTIONS FOR READING COMPREHENSION AND SELF-EFFICACY
Being professional and skillful english teachers require lots of skills in implementing learning strategies to make students successful in learning reading. The teachers should give instructions in teaching reading based on the metacognitive strategy and also comprehend the students’ self-efficacy levels. As students who have high self-efficacy are very motivated in doing the task and they have big effort to be success, control their learning situation and believe they have the capabilities to succeed. While students with low self-efficacy, they do not have commitments in learning achievement and become unmotivated to finish task because they do not have full belief to be success. Reading comprehension is a skill which must be mastered by university students by implementing learning strategies in which teachers instruct them in the teaching learning process.
